Here's the story of why I'm riding across america

Hello, I’m Dave Nowlan. I cycled from Encinitas, Calif., to Cape Cod, Mass. from April 22 through May 28, 2012 in an effort to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and to help fund research for a cure. My wife, Claire, and daughter, Julia, both have MS. I broke my back in a sledding accident almost three years ago; I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have recovered without being paralyzed and was able to ride this long cross continent adventure. Californnia Training ride

Yestarday I rode for 4 plus hours on a training ride through Carlsbad, Oceanside, Vista, and back to Encinitas.  I don't know the milage as the bike has no speedometer (estimate 50 to 60 miles).  I found a great bike path going east from Oceanside along a river bed and route 76 for about 9 miles.  I'll use this route on my coss country ride. I stopped by a Vietnam Memorial and got a video for my brother Phil, a Vietnam veteran. I ran into a detour on the bike path. It was well marked and a little surprising to see how oragnized they are here in California for such things. Life is good.
