Here's the story of why I'm riding across america

Hello, I’m Dave Nowlan. I cycled from Encinitas, Calif., to Cape Cod, Mass. from April 22 through May 28, 2012 in an effort to raise awareness of Multiple Sclerosis (MS), and to help fund research for a cure. My wife, Claire, and daughter, Julia, both have MS. I broke my back in a sledding accident almost three years ago; I’m the luckiest guy in the world to have recovered without being paralyzed and was able to ride this long cross continent adventure. Day 10 Albuquerque

Today was a very good day, went from Grants to Albuquerque NM.  I was able to ride Rt 66 for most of the morning where we went through some small towns and experienced more awesome landscapes.  We met up with a group of motorcyclists from Australia at one stop.

In Albuquerque we visited with Greg and Anna Shawver who are hosting us for the night.  It was so enjoyable to meet up with some good friends and spend some time together getting caught up as we haven't been together for a few years.  Greg hasn't changed a bit, we had many laughs.  Anna is wonderful and they are great hosts, so if you ever need a place to stay in Alburquerque look them up. They are working hard at their company, Apple Canyon Gourmet, and business us good.

I rode 76 fairly easy miles as it was mostly downhill (47 mph max speed), except for a huge uphill at the end, so we arrived in Albuquerque around 2 PM giving me time to visit the Bike Coop to stock up with an extra six tire tubes.  Here's a link to today's ride from my cycling application.   Tomorrow starts up with a big climb out east.
